Imagine the Cheyenne Wyoming landscape then and now at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. Located in Lions Park just north of downtown Cheyenne real estate, the Museum brings Old Western glory days to life. International visitors and current residents of Cheyenne homes alike participate in the activities, exhibits, and year-round programming.
Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum is the world’s largest outdoor rodeo and western celebration, a premier cultural and historic center that keeps ‘em coming back for more of the best of our American Western heritage.
Do more than imagine the collection of 150 historic horse-drawn carriages and wagons that tell stories of the Cheyenne Frontier since 1897. Come for The Daddy of ‘em All summer rodeo. As cowboys tended cattle on the vast frontier, they returned to their Cheyenne ranches for friendly bucking matches. That is when the event began. Today, supported by 2,500 big cowboy hearted volunteers, the huge rodeo offers entertainment, carnival, exhibits, parades, and the Air Force Thunderbirds. “It’s the Cheyenne thing to do.”
The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum is a “Gem Attraction” as rated by the American Automobile Association. Open year round, the museum features 60,000 artifacts including authentic clothing from the 1850s, western and folk art, and a museum shop with souvenirs and gifts.
Children’s interactive learning and discovery areas and educational programming accommodate local and traveling classrooms and tours. Children’s winter workshops excite the imagination with sessions such as Snake Oil Show. During the summertime, children attend Kids Cowboy Camp and Kids Folk-art Camp. The museum offers schools and groups tours and discounted admission.
A variety of exhibits such as “Prairies to Peaks, A Plein Air in Wyoming” and the Western Spirit Art Show with 130 artists from across the country, Laramie County Art Show, Advice from Cheyenne Botanical Gardens, and the Grade 6 Art Exhibit fill the calendar all year round. More events that are entertaining fill the calendar, like the Cajun Cowboy Concert, the Carriage Ball, and Bootbarn Fashion Show – Then & Now.
The programs have even stirred some souls to saddle up for a home search in Laramie County. For more about Cheyenne homes for sale and Cheyenne ranches, call The Property Exchange at (307) 632-6481 or visit us at http://www.propertyex.com.
