Trailblazing with its new real estate in Cheyenne’s Swan Ranch Rail Park, Midwestern Wyoming, Inc. is the first company to break ground in the new area just south of the I-25/I-80 interchange on Cheyenne’s southwest side.  The prime Cheyenne WY commercial real estate extends over 55 acres in the industrial park.  Swan Ranch Rail Park comprises 550 acres within the 7,200-acre Granite Peak Development.

Midwestern Wyoming, Inc. provides oil and gas pipeline services.  After a year’s search for the best location, in 2009 Midwestern Wyoming announced their plans to expand into Cheyenne real estate.  In addition to other necessary infrastructure, Swan Ranch Rail Park offers the company excellent highway access and rail service by Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and Union Pacific (UP).

According to a Press Release by Cheyenne LEADS on December 30, 2011, construction has begun on the 60,000-square-foot pipe-coating plant and a 17,000-square-foot fabrication shop and office building.  Midwestern Wyoming also plans to install a 2,000-foot rail spur to handle railcar shipments.

Midwestern Wyoming’s oil and gas pipeline services specialize in double joint welding of steel pipe, application of anti-corrosion coatings to both the internal and external surfaces of steel pipe, and other services for the oil and gas pipeline industry.  The company cited Wyoming’s business-friendly environment, availability of skilled workers, and the sales tax and usage-tax exemptions for manufacturing machinery.

General contractor Redco Construction is managing the Midwestern Wyoming project, with engineering services by AVI PC of Cheyenne.  Construction of the fabrication shop and offices should be complete sometime in the spring 2011. followed by completion of the pipe-coating building in the fall.  By late 2011, Midwestern Wyoming plans to be operational.  Before then, they expect to hire manufacturing specialists.  Those looking for employment as welders/fabricators, equipment operators, and skilled laborers may take advantage of the 25 to 35 additional jobs being created by the company.

The vice president of Midwestern Wyoming, Inc. acknowledged that the Cheyenne LEADS organization “played a vital role in our location.”  LEADS worked with BNSF railroad to further rail access for Midwestern and other companies.  Cheyenne LEADS is a private, not-for-profit economic development organization that helps non-retail businesses in all phases of relocation and expansion.  It serves as the economic development entity for The City of Cheyenne and Laramie County.
